El Palo Alto (the Tall Tree)

The Palo Alto Legal Professionals Association ("PALPA") is a nonprofit educational association for legal secretaries and other legal professionals who value ethics, professionalism, and continuing legal education.  Formerly known as PALSA, PALPA was founded 34 years ago by a small group of smart women and is one of approximately 50 sister organizations throughout the State of California, as part of LSI (Legal Secretaries, Incorporated).

Our association was formed in 1977 to support legal secretaries through education and networking in a demanding profession, where quality standards and client expectations are always growing. As the job of the legal secretary has changed and expanded in the contemporary legal world, so the goals of our association have changed to reach out to legal workers at all levels in the profession.

Whether you are new to the legal world or a seasoned legal professional, PALPA can help you enhance your performance and professional growth.

A membership offers a unique opportunity to serve and achieve professional goals by maintaining a competitive edge in your career.

Members enjoy discounts on seminars, workshops, and conferences.  They keep current on changes in the law, share ideas, and network with other legal professionals from a variety of practices and firms. The Bay Area Legal Forum ("BALF") , formerly the Bay Area Legal Secretaries Forum or BALSF, plays a key role in running and overseeing quarterly workshops and annual educational seminars in various locations throughout the year.

Palo Alto LPA conducts quarterly board meetings, usually on the Tuesday evening prior to a General Meeting, in which the business of the association is maintained, and holds quarterly General Meetings of the membership on the third Tuesday of every February, May, September, and December to which speakers are invited to discuss subjects related to legal education and other professional development topics. All members are welcome to both board meetings and General Meetings. Join PALPA today to get more out of your career and enjoy your own personal and professional growth.

"The meetings are always a fun time to network and socialize with people who share my profession and to learn about new things, but what I have enjoyed the most is the wonderful friendships I have formed over the years."
